Audience Guide
A few FYI’s to keep your art-hopping adventure smooth, easy, and safe:
Look for the signs and homemade pennant banners (pictured above) marking festival locations. That’s how you’ll know you’re in the right place.
Printed festival maps are available at all brick-and-mortar festival locations. There are a limited number of maps available, so please only take one per person. And don’t lose it.
Facebook is the best way to get the latest updates on events. Like our page at facebook.com/2ndfloorrear.
Some event venues offer refreshments for a small donation. Carry cash. (And donate generously!)
The ‘featured businesses’ on festival maps are featured because they are places the 2016 curators really like. And everyone has to eat. So if you work up an appetite from all the art-ing, you’ve already got a list of conveniently located coffee shops, restaurants, and bars on hand. You’re welcome.
A couple tips on etiquette: Oppressive or harmful behavior is not welcome at any festival event. Oppressive behavior includes any action that perpetuates racism, misogyny, heterosexism, transphobia and other systemic oppressions through antagonism, silencing, intimidation, or coercion. Harmful behavior includes harassment, violence, and violation of consent.** Also, many festival events take place in private residences. Be mindful of this. At all 2nd Floor events, act like a guest, not a customer.
**We plagiarized the Feminist Action Support Network here. We doubt they mind.
